Oil Pressure Warning
Oil can with a drop. Engine oil pressure is dangerously low. Stop engine immediately - driving causes permanent damage within minutes.
What to do: Stop now, check oil level. If oil is full, tow to shop.
Engine Temperature
Thermometer in liquid. Engine is overheating. Continued driving warps cylinder heads and destroys the engine.
What to do: Stop safely, turn off engine, let cool for 30 min. Check coolant.
Battery / Charging System
Rectangle with + and - terminals. Charging system has failed. Usually a bad alternator or broken belt.
What to do: Drive directly to nearest shop with minimal electronics on.
Brake System Warning
Exclamation point in circle, often with BRAKE text. Brake fluid low or brake system failure.
What to do: Test brake feel carefully. If pedal is soft or spongy, stop immediately.
Check Engine (CEL)
Engine outline or 'Check Engine' text. Engine management system detected a fault. Could be minor (O2 sensor, gas cap) or serious (misfires, catalytic converter).
What to do: Solid light: safe to drive short-term. Flashing light: stop driving.
ABS Warning
Letters ABS in a circle. Anti-lock brake system has failed. Normal braking still works but ABS will not activate during hard stops.

Traction Control / Stability
Car with wavy lines underneath. Traction control system fault. May reduce traction assist on slippery surfaces.
What to do: Avoid driving in rain or snow until repaired.
TPMS (Tire Pressure)
Exclamation point inside a flat tire outline. One or more tires is 25%+ underinflated.
What to do: Check and inflate all four tires. If proper pressure, sensor may need reset.
Airbag / SRS Warning
Person with airbag inflating. Airbag system fault. Airbags may not deploy in a crash.
What to do: Safe to drive but airbag protection is compromised. Repair promptly.
Transmission Temperature
Gear inside a thermometer. Transmission is overheating. Often triggered by towing heavy loads or stop-and-go traffic.
What to do: Pull over and let transmission cool. Check fluid level when cool.
Fuel Level Low
Gas pump icon. Fuel is low - typically 2-3 gallons remaining.
What to do: Refuel soon. Running completely empty can damage the fuel pump.
Service Due / Oil Life
Wrench icon or 'Service Due' message. Oil change or scheduled maintenance is due.
What to do: Schedule oil change. Reset light after service.
Door / Hood Ajar
Car outline with open door or hood. A door or hood is not fully latched.

Seatbelt Reminder
